AFR 225's on a 346? I was wondering if there were any issues with running AFR 225's on a stock displacement motor. Piston to valve, valve to cylinder wall? I was planning on running a cam in the high 220's low 230's. Is any one running these on your 3.900 bore? Brett |

Little to large of a cylinder head for a 346. 205 is all you need. |
heads sorry to jump in but i'm in the market for heads but from what i've seen like from ttperformance and even afr does say if you have a wild 346 with a big cam and lots of spray or stroked then use this one. i have 346 motor with the xx cam so i want to make as much power as possible, i was thinking about getting the trickflows or getting the afr 225 and porting them out even more or porting out the rhs heads i got this idea from racing prep engineering |
225's would be great on a 346 race setup but the 205's with a mild cam on DD car is more than enough. |
i'm already use to my cam it has nothing down low its a top in package my cam starts shining around 2800-7500 |
I was referring to the original poster. For yours, sounds like the 225 will be fine. |
ok good my bad |
hopefully 228/232 range on cam. 225's will do the job, but from the way the 205's have been performing, there hard to beat. i think most of the 205's people are using have been ported. |
There are ton's of results on the 205's. LG went a 10.4 at 141 mph in their race vette (2950 lbs) with a 346 CI and 205's out of box some time ago. The 225's will shine more on a large bore setup. Look at this thread https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamometer-results-comparisons/384450-383-engine-dyno-results-graphs-included.html. Lots of good info/testing in here from Tony. Dan |

Thanks for the imput guys. I went with the 205's. I don't think any thing N/A is going to feel fast right now. I just had to sell my FI combo that was making 635rwhp to finance my new motor. I think the 205's are a great choice right now. The car will be a mid size cammed daily driver. I can port them later and grow if I want to put more motor under them. A few friends of mine are having great results with the 205's on stroker motors as well. 67RS. I just realized that I put Piston to Cylinder. I think I do want that. I meant Valve to Cylinder but I am sure you already got that. |

I'm looking at the same heads. AFR 205 or AFR 225. I was thinking the 225's over the 205's. I am using nitrous, 150-200 shot. Anyone have any results with these heads and nitrous? I have a forged 346 I built mainly to take spray, it has a fast 90 as well. |
