Kook's Header Issue. Search Did Not Help My Kooks 1 7/8 fit with no problem but I noticed the passenger side just touches the subframe. I will need to remove and notch I guess. Will a dremel work for this? How much clearance do you need to have so that when the motor moves side to side it will not hit? Any advice would help greatly. Thanks guys. |
You gonna run solid mounts with that new motor? |
I got the poly mounts. Engine and trans. If it does not hurt it to have the headers rest on the k-member I would just leave alone. I just do not want to cluncking sound. |
I had to grind the crap out of mine, but it fits with PLENTY of room. You're going to be down there for a month if you're using a dremel. I was using a 4" angle grinder, and just worked the crap out of it all at one time. I didn't want to have to go at it again after I test fitted it. Here's a pic.... http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...t/IMG_1702.jpg You will have to unbolt the pedestals from the k-member, and jack the motor up to get the driver side in. Put that one in first, get it bolted back down, then worry about the passenger side. |
You should not have to grind anything. You paid alot of money for those headers and they should fit like a glove. Call kooks they should replace them. |
no header is going to fit perfect. every car is differnet shure if he got anouther set of hearders they MIGHT fit better but they MIGHT fit worse |
These are the 1-7/8" headers we're talking about. They it a little *different* than the Kooks 1-3/4". |
Thanks for all the help guys. I got about 1/4 inch of gap minimun all the way around the k-member. Should that be enough? Thanks again. |
With poly mounts, that's plenty. :drive: |
I had the poly mounts and the 1 7/8 and it sat right on the K... almost rubbed a hole in the header. Tried to get a hold of Kooks, no reply! Great CS from my $900 headers. |
