Quietest exhaust with lt's and ory

hate my loudmouth now that i have lts and ory. i know its still gonna be loud no matter what if i dont have cats. if i cant get something quiet enough, im putting cats on my y pipe. i've listened to every exhaust on ls1sounds but cant really get a feel for what's the quietest. let me know from your experience(s)

Hooker or slp dual dual

00slowredz Mar 12, 2007 11:09 AM

is the dual dual REALLY that quiet?

98Z28MASS Mar 12, 2007 11:21 AM

slp dual/dual, see if you can find one off an slp f-body as slp doesnt make them anymore. Another option would be to weld a magnafow bullet muffler into the I-pipe and then a magnaflow regualr square muffler into the rear section. That would flow well and be quiet. Check the link in my sig for my magnaflow clip with cam/ory/headers.

Even thoough I think it sucks, a Flowmaster. it took a local kid's 383 motor that was a monster with QTP LT's ORY and loudmouth to a car that was quiter then my stock car, no lie.

I have the hooker catback and its pretty quiet at idle, but when you stomp the gas it sounds mean. I am always getting compliments from friends on the sound, and it is a great flowing muffler too!

00slowredz Mar 12, 2007 03:16 PM

any sponsors that sell hooker catbacks????

00slowredz Mar 12, 2007 03:16 PM

i still have my flowmaster layin in the garage but i know that they dont flow worth a shit

just did lts and ory today and already had magnaflow catback. I think its quiet just crusisin but noticeable if u get into it. I think it sound great no overly loud.

I got a free flowmaster from theblurls1.....I'm going to put it on plus a dynomax bullet in the y pipe with a cutout right behind it.......he has it on his car with a slp dual dua....the car is as quiet as stock but you can still hear the cam.....plus he said he didn't see any change in speed or time at the track with the cutout open......goes to show that slp is a great flowing quiet muffler

00slowredz Mar 12, 2007 08:49 PM

i think im gonna get a hooker cat back....i wish i could hear one in person

pierce21 Mar 12, 2007 09:10 PM

Yes i heard of the Pacesetter and flowmaster. It's been used by almost everybody i Know... :chug:

i have a flowmaster 40 series its quiet at idle but very loud at wot.this is with lts @ ory.i have a cutout too i open at the track.hooker is a straight thru muffler my sisters old gta has it and it sounds like theres no muffler there at all

5_02ls1 Mar 12, 2007 09:17 PM

00slowredz Mar 12, 2007 09:34 PM

everyone i've talked to on here says hooker is one of the quietest exhaust systems they make for f bodies???? its not anything like the resonator on the loudmouth....its actually a MUFFLER hahaha

its very quiet while cruising, a little rasp in the 2000-2500 range but after that it sounds great without screaming.

5_02ls1 Mar 12, 2007 09:37 PM

yeah a muffler but you can see straight thru it yeah its gonna be quieter than the lm but not much. i live in va loud exhaust is very illegal.trust me the hooker is loud at wot

00slowredz Mar 12, 2007 09:59 PM

ooooo nooo no no. my fault, i should have specified in my posts... i dont care if its loud at wot....i dont want it to sound like a damn nascar anymore either but the main thing im worried about is the idle. my car right now is loud as F#CK at idle, its loud as hell ALL THE TIME. if i can start my car up and putter down the street without my neighbors getting pissed off, im happy. if it screams like hell after 2000rpm....i dont care

5_02ls1 Mar 12, 2007 10:04 PM

yeah as long as your not raisin hell the hooker is somewat quiet.

00slowredz Mar 12, 2007 10:07 PM

yea, im pretty sure thats what im gonna get. if i could do true duals with an x pipe and some 1chamber flows, i would. but in pa, the roads SUCK so i have to have some ground clearance so.....looks like hooker is gonna win the vote
