Default installing headers tomorrow..any tips?

I'm installing some "non-sponsor" longtube stainless headers and a jet hot y pipe tomorrow. A friend is helping me and we've never done anything like this before. We're using a lift and I printed off an install guide...any tips/suggestions?

You should change your plugs at the same time. You will also need 02 sims if you are not able to program the codes for the rear 02's out. (I would recommend getting it to a tuner instead of the sims route) If you can get it tuned I would get rid of the AIR and EGR stuff at the same time as well. It really cleans up the engine bay.
Take your time and have fun!
Good luck!

I'd recommend getting your aggression out today so you won't kick your car tomorrow. Headers are a love hate thing you’ll hate installing them but you’ll love the power and sound you get from the mod.

penatrating oil and torque wrench is nice to have to get all the old stuff off. I didnt have to cut the tab to get mine in, but they are a different brand so it will be different. Take your time, make sure there are no small children around (bad words will be spoken). Give yourself plenty of time. It is straight forward, old stuff comes out and replace with new. I didnt remove coils, but I kind of wish I did (the cuts and scraps on my hands and arms prove it).

Go ahead and soke all the bolts down in Pb blaster tonight, so theyll be easier to get out tommrow, and remove the coil packs because that last bolt can be a bitch to get out.

In the end... when all bolts are tighten up and the headers aren't hitting on anything, you'll be really grinning from ear to ear. Just listen to your car roar from the open headers.

My first set of headers were SLP LT's LOL and they took 8hrs, my second set of 1 7/8 headers took 45 minutes LOL so yes the first install sucks, after that its all down hill.

ok so I worked on it for about 7 hours today by myself(my friend didn't show up and i'm not mechanically inclined) and got everything off(plugs, wires, coil packs,y pipe dipstick tube and manifolds) and the driver's side header in(had to use a hammer for a small clearance issue) with one bolt in(didn't have to cut off the casting tab) and also test fitted the passenger side and it slid right in...going to finish the rest tomorrow with the help of my dad....it sucks by yourself

The hard part is getting the old exhaust off.

BUY A 10mm RATCHET GEAR WRENCH!!! MINE COST $14 AND SAVED ME SO MUCH FRUSTRATION!! Get a sawzall or grinder for the tab, get the car in the air HIGH. Take plenty of breaks. Know when you're installing the new headers that the hard part is over. Make sure you have some WD-40 or PB Blaster or something. Also, a breaker bar is a MUST.

I too did the same exact (down to the brand) install last weekend. Make sure you have 3-4 extra 3" clamps, my Jet Hot Y came in 4 pieces for some reason. Oh, and don't the Y-pipe will slide right into the stock catback, I too had a cutout and stock exhaust before I did the install. Good luck!
