Help me build the "Ultimate Bolt-On Car".....
FTRA, K+N, Lid, SLP 85mm MAF, Dynatechs, YTP4400, ASP Pulleys, 160 Thermostat, PA K-Member/A-Arms, V6 rear springs, RR Airbag, SLP Linelock, Poly T/A mount, Jegs DSL, BMR SFCs, SLP Fan switch, Trans Cooler, MAFT, ATAP, free mods, etc....
Heres what I am adding/have added....
Ported TB, LS6 Intake, Baker Hose, LCA relocators, Truck trans pan, LCAs and poly bushings everywhere, Lockup switch, EW Programming, Custom 3" Y-pipe with dual cutouts, some kind of quiet exhaust (Dual/Dual or the like), big rear swaybar, if not BMR or Wolfe.
Last year, the car weighed 3660 with me in it, and a Moser 9". Assuming the 9" added ~60lbs, the car should weigh about 3600lbs before the following:
A/C -30 lbs
F Bumper -23 lbs
R Bumper -21 lbs
EGR/AIR -11 lbs
Pass Seat -34 lbs
K-Member/A-Arms -40 lbs
Ghetto !P/S -12 lbs
Dynabatt -20 lbs
!Carpet backing -10 lbs
TOTAL WEIGHT SAVINGS: 201 lbs
3600-201=3399
3399-99=3300 lbs (I can find a way to lose another 99 lbs!)
My best time last year was a 12.44 @ 108 with signifigantly less mods, 90 degree weather, Torque Management and Shift point issues....
I am thinking either a 3.42 or 3.73 gear.
I want to run 11.599999999 sometime this year, can I do it? What am I leaving off? The record is 11.30 something , surely an 11.59999999 is attainable......

-passenger seat is 30-40 lbs
-MAF T maybe
-QA1/Hal shocks in front.
My raceweight is a little heavier than yours now. I run a 3.42 gear, but think a 3.73 would be ideal. I also run with g-hann full lenghts- 2.5 inch y-pipe and a borla cat back. I also run on m/t 26X8.5 et Drags.
I think your goal is attainable with that set up. I dont think you will need that rear swaybar to do it, but it would be a cool mod.
Also, why the v6 springs?

a few tips to drop the weight. Take the carpet all the way out, or replace with a lightweight one, that weighs 10 lbs. Fab up a lightweight drivers seat, just for the track. My "track" seat weighs 10 lbs with brackets. You just lost 50 lbs right there.
Leave the stock 10 bolt in there, it's lighter. Go with 3:73 gears, maybe experiment with 4:10. LCA relocation brackets. I've had great 60's with the Eibach pro springs in the back/stock shocks. Go with the Hal shocks in the back if you can afford it, if not, then get one to put on the pasenger side. a TQ arm & poly bushing will def help. Carbon fiber driveshaft, warn out roters for the rear (lighter), or no roters
Tires and rims should be the lightest that you can find. (save weight wherever you can).
You can go with a manual power steering rack, & srop I believe another 30 lbs. from the front (always better than weight from the rear). take off all interior panels (the door ones weigh 19 lbs!!) If you dont drive it on the street, then take out the air bag. If you've got big $$ then replace every bolt you can with aluminum or titanium. Lighten up the doors as much as you can (break out the drill & go to town).
A good LT header is important, try dual exhaust, dumping before the axles, light. Or a 3" Y into a 4" or 5" bullet (hey, you want the record or dont ya??) Def get it tuned with MAFT, or LS1 Edit.
Real simple. Air in, air out, weight & traction. Yes, go with the drag slick to start with. The ET's are nice, but dont compare. There are a few other things that you could do, but most of it is all weight reduction that you can read about on the weight reduction thread.
Dont forget Hals in the front. Shocks & springs.
Maybe you could strap on a 350 turbo. Alot of the things mentioned here are things that I chose not to go with because I drive the car every day when the weather is nice. But if I were to build one just for the record, lets just say I could see a 10 sec slip if all factors were in place, like weather, traction, etc. There is some luck involved. Good luck.
