Summit Racing has a filter they claim to have derived from the K&N filter, except its about $10 less. Is this comperable? Is it worth it?

0 gain from a k+n or Holley or any other expensive air filter over a fram paper filter. I proved it on a dyno.

I disagree...

I've seen plenty of people lose power from K&N Oil contamination on the MAF

The only reason I got a K&N was because I have the FTRA and I know that I was going to be sucking more "containiments" up into my intake and I thought this would hold a bit better than stock. I also like that I clean it except it seems I can never get it to look as oiled as it does when it comes new. I cleaned it really good and then oiled it a few times, let it sit, put it back on, drove for a day or two, checked it, the top was still pretty light in color, so I threw some more oil on the bottom to soak through and still is pretty light. I just dont want to put too much because I have heard the stories.....car runs fine and the filter is working fine, just wish the oil would soak in more. Sorry for the long rant, just thought I would throw this in here because it is on topic of the thread.

I don't think I'd even run another K&N if it was given to me. I'm sticking with the paper from now on.

paper x(more than anyone else) I have a k&n, and don't even use it anymore. There's no difference in HP from stock, and the k&n doesn't even filter as well.

The problem is everyone buys into the marketing BS. I sat on a dyno and tested them. I actually gained 1-2 hp with the fram paper over the k+n on my third pull with the engine hot.

1-2hp can be the difference in two dyno runs with nothing changed.

Correct so it can be safely and accurately said that the k+n did nothing for gains.

How about some good paper filter brands? I'm not a Fram fan.
