Help...89 S10 blazer won't start

Not sure if this is the right place or not but...I have an 89 S10 blazer that won't start. It cranks over but that's it. I replaced the fuel filter and checked the fuel pump while I had the line off and it's pumping fuel. Any quick checks I can do before calling the garage?

I would check and make sure you are getting spark. Check all ignition wires to the distributor and make sure they are getting a good connection. Any chance theres water in the distributor? If so, take an air compressor hose and blow it out. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

You need Air, Fuel, and Spark. I'm sure you have the first two. Check your plugs and wires. That's a good place to start.

Battery sounds okay since its turning over. You checked fuel and that appears okay. As the other folks mentioned, I'd check spark. Could be a dead coil or something similar. Pull off a plug wire, bend up a paper clip so one leg is straight, and insert it into the boot. Carefully (so you don't get zapped :) ) hold the boot/clip close to a metal ground (engine brackets seem to work well) and have someone crank the engine. You should see a fat blue spark jump from the clip. If its a weak orange spark or nothing at all then chase it back to the coil from there.

I would suggest pulling a plug too. They might be all fouled up or something since it's an old vehicle. Does it have a manual tranny? You could always try push starting it.

Just another thought here. Did you get a tank of bad gas? That has happened to me before.

Check the throttle body injector, that it is spraying fuel while cranking. Check the coil wire for spark, Then check a plug wire for spark. 4 or 6 if you got injector pulse & no spark 99% of the time it's the ignition module.
