ls6 style intake
powder coating powder coating the aluminum will be fine. I have coated all of my sbc intakes and it worked out great. plus when they get a little dirty you just wipe it off. if you leave it bare any oil you get on it will stain. hope this helps. also like everyone already said the intake swap is easy, take your time and have fun with it.
I did this saturday with a buddy. First time ever swapping an intake, took about 2 hours. Glad I did it on my own instead of a shop. Just be real careful of the damn oil pressure unit.
Cam install is what scared me initially. Just wait til you get to that point. No one will tell you it is very easy anymore, cause half of those people paid to have it done. I watched on my first cam as a friend did it, then the next 4 were on me. 
Definitely do it yourself, Im a newbie too, but the lid was cake and I bought the car to learn and for the experiences too. The intake doesnt sound too bad from what Ive read, Im pretty sure I can do it on my own if I chose too, but Ive got friends that know more than me to help out and there are always our great members here to help out and hold your hand through the whole thing
Great question, i plan on doing this sometime in the future and would like to get some info on this now. So you dont need to upgrade the Throttle Body with the LS6 Intake??? Or the other's that were listed.
