Difference in a ported stock MAF and aftermarket

What is the Difference between a Stock descreened and ported MAF and an aftermarket such as a Granatelli? Is there a difference in the electrical part of the MAF? BTW I have descreened and ported mine at home and I have not had any problems.

Thanks

I thought the Granatelli just offered a larger opening?

Don't descreen it. Have heard about idle probs after!

Its descreened and ported, fired right up the first time and hasnt thrown any codes. no probs at all, im just wondering whats the different between the stock(that has been descreened and ported) and aftermarket because the aftermarkets come "ported" already, correct? so what could be so different?

I just went with MAF ends, tried SLP 85mm MAF thinking bigger would help-lost 2/10 in 1/4 mile-sent back to SLP to retune-still junk :bang: .
I have had MAF ends since 2002, No problems without screens.

I guess its a hit or miss for some guys. I have poly ported screenless MAF ends, no idles issues and my A/F is right on the money.

if you get the slp MAF you have to get a tune because more air is coming in.
