Open header MAC's,will it hurt HP from o2 readings

I have MAC headers on my car with no exhaust on them at the moment and its straight header. Ive heard that running no exhaust what so ever on the end will make the car lose alot of HP due to only a couple inchs of piping after the o2 sensors.

Is this true?

O2 readings will go all to shit.

You'll smell the raw fuel being dumped out the headers it will be so rich. I wouldn't throw any struck matches under the car either when its running like that.

Needless to say, performance and fuel economy will, go all to shit.

But if you're just going to drive it up the road to the muffler shop, go ahead. If you plan on keeping it open headered, get about 12-24" of pipe (get 24 or more and you can always cut it down, some run 16, 18, 24, etc) and run those off the headers, to keep the O2 readings from getting contaminated by atmospheric air.
