GM Gaskets with Pacesetter LT's Hey guys, i'm new to the LS1 mods, etc... I know with my old LT1 certain headers matched up with the manifold bolts therefore you could use GM metal gaskets instead of Felpro or other soft material gaskets. Would GM gaskets work with the Pacesetters or should I just use the ones that came with the package? Thanks, |
dont use the ones that came with the pacesetters, go buy some gm metal gaskets they will work great |
Use the stock gaskets, either buy new from the dealer, or reuse the ones you have, and toss the Pacesetter gaskets in the trash |
Thanks guys, got a part number for the GM gaskets? For a '00... If it makes any difference. Also, I read alot of crap being posted about the Pacesetters touching and ratting both at the headers and y-pipe, (have the TSP Catted vs), but I read some posts that the y's were changed in the past months, years? Any insight on this? Don't forget that part number... :D |
I re-used my stock gaskets. Headers have been on for almost a month now and no leaks yet. |
My father put Pacesetters on his LT1 and they did touch and rattle at first, but it went away on its own. Maybe it had to do with moving the motor mounts. By the way his headers came with copper gaskets, he used them (against my recommendation to use factory gaskets) and they have been good so far. I put MACs on my LS1 and used new factory gaskets when I installed them. |
+1 for the gm. I bought a new pair from the dealership when I did mine, worth it to just do it right. |
I used fel-pro's and stock bolts, I put them on almost 2 yrs ago and have never so much as checked the bolts, and have never had a problem with them... |
I've reused my stock bolts and stock gaskets 3 times. Never re-torqued anything and have zero leaks. Save your money.:D |
