LT's & ory performance problem, plz HELP!

Well, my '00 Z28 had edelbrock shortys and a flowmaster 40 ser. muffler when I got it, I gutted the cats as well. I just recently installed pacesetter long tubes and a 3" off-road y-pipe.
Now the exaust note is powerful but too raspy. There are no exaust leaks or rattles. Will a resonator take away most of this raspiness and help bring back the deep tone it had? If not, then what will?
Also, I immediately noticed a decrease in power! Is this due to a lack of backpressure? When I get a good tune in it will it dial them in right? Please help!

Wrong forum. I suppose moving lower on the page didn't help like we hoped.

Do you still have the Flowmaster on the car?

I put a Dynomax Bullet on my pacesetter LT/ORY combo.

Check out www.ls1sounds.com for a sound clip website.

Swap it out with a Hooker Aerochamber muffler & almost all the rasp will disappear. I have had my muffler since the car was bone stock & it hasn't failed to keep me pleased with the overall sound.

The rasp is gonna be more present just for the fact the cats are gone & you added LT's. Your gonna get some rasp from those mods no matter what the rest of your exhaust set-up is, but the Hooker eliminates it more than any other I haver heard in person.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice, what price range does that muffler fall in?

BIG_MIKE2005 Oct 31, 2007 03:18 PM

$80 at your local performance shop.
