car won't start When I try to crank it over makes a click noise one time.Any ideas. Also the battery is good |
Loose battery terminals? Loose negative lead to the engine block? Have you done any recent work on the car? |
No.This is what happened I took my son out yesterday for pizza and when we came out the car would not start had the car towed home. I installed new battery today and nothing except the one click.I checked the new battery and and it has 12 volts. |
Battery could be okay, but reading 12V dosn't say its fine. That voltage could shoot down when under load, what if you put your lights on, does the battery voltage go down? If it stays at 12V then good, if not then battery cant handle taking power from it. The starter is something like 300amps I believe, so you only need the slightest resistance in the cable and there wont be enough current to turn the engine over. Your battery could be fine, could be a loose cable to the starter motor. |
Could be the starter |
