What Y-pipe with QTP's

What Y-pipe are you using with your QTP's? What are the likes and dislikes? I do not want cut outs at this time, and i do want to keep a Y in my exhaust,, no TD's. I have heard the QTP Y's do not fit very well, with bad clearance as well..

i just got a custom one made and put a single chamber flowmaster on it. it sounds great. im very happy with it. from what i have been reading, the qtp ypipe fits like shit and is expensive, and pacesetters doesnt fit. i think the only one that does fit is either hookers or kooks, and they still have to be modified to fit. so custom is the best route and cheapest. i paid $230 for the y pipe and single chamber.

If you go with a custom Y-pipe like Yahelou..make sure they don't weld it onto the headers ;)

I have two friends with QTPs and they both absolutely hate the Y pipes. (don't tell Choco) One lives with it and the other took it off and got a custom one.

I don't mind the QTP Y pipe, I just wish It were made of a good stainless steel. Maybe I should look at a custom one, If I don't mind the QTP one I would guess I should be in for a real treat if I get a custom one. :D

I'm thinking about trying the Texas Speed catted y for Hooker/pacesetter and having it worked to fit. Our local shop doesn't mandrel bend and it would cost about $475 by the time they make it with cats. Oh yea, I have a Pacesetter y modified by Mayhem Motorsports to fit up. It doesn't go behind the crossmember so my clearance sucks on the driver side.

My QTP Y fit like a$$ so I made it into a custom unit myself. I performed major surgery on the collector area where the two pipes come together and switched to a LT1 trans crossmember for clearance. When you need something done right sometimes you have to do it yourself.

This Y fits like a glove now.

i modified a kooks one

^ Have pics? The LT1 crossmember sounds like an idea for sure.

my buddy used an edelbrok y pipe. it bolted right up

Redlinez Nov 17, 2007 08:40 PM

I might have to look at the edelbrock. The only thing I'm truly not happy with is the shortness on the driver side causing the pipe to run directly under the trans support
