Would someone explain to me the throttle body "cam"?
I have read about a throttle body cam causing the throttle body to open up slower?
The earlier ls1's opened up quicker and the later opened up slower, right?
Anyone got a picture?
What is the advantage of each? How does it work?

Basically if you look at the TB on the left you'll see where the throttle cable attaches. That is called the TB cam. If it is smaller (like on the older models) it moves quicker than the larger TB cam's of today.

I have been looking at this. What I see is, the early "cam"
(aka pulley) is a uniform round one and the later is more like
a Nautilus machine. The early gives you the same blade
angle per cable draw throughout the travel. The late one,
requires more draw per angle in the early stage and goes
down to a smaller radius, more angle per draw, at the big
end. So you feel less "throttle response" and the low end
is more "controlled". They should end at roughly the same
point regardless (open is open) but on my car I found the
TCS cluster was limiting the pedal draw and I was barely
able to get full open on a stock TB and short of full open
on my new Pro Products 85mm. So I modified the pulley
with a new hole closer to the edge & cable ball making it
open more with less cable draw.
I prefer the old style, myself.

My PP 85mm came with both sizes in the box, attach
with a nut. The stock TB shaft has the pulley swaged
on and you have to swap the whole shaft assembly.
Easy enough, though if someone before you has staked
the blade screws you'd have some grinding to do.
