relax, it's an easy job. the pass side should go in by removing the starter and plugs. try unbolting the trans mount to shift the trans around some.

on the drivers side you may need to remove the motor mount and lift the motor some...

i thought about removing the starter, but the header is not close to it. it seems one of the primarie's curved section is wider than the distance frm the block to the heater core / ac stuff.

i'll try unbolting the trans mount and i guess i'll remove the starter too.

did you install yours from the top or bottom??

Install them from the bottom. The passenger side is the easiest side. As previously stated - remove the plugs and starter. It will slide right up. On the drivers side I removed the oil filter and oil drain plug to get the header in. I had to move it up, forward, up, in. No jacking of the motor was required.

i got the pass. side in from the bottom . it took a whole lot of wooden blocks under the jack to get the car high enough.

thanks for the info chris , i tried putting the driver side in but it seems that the filter is in the way like you noted. i'll take a crack at it today.

well i finally got them in!
man was it a pain in the ***!!!

for the passenger side i had to lift the front end pretty high to get that sign in .
as for the driver side , well..... I HATE IT!!!
i had to lift the car too , remove the oil filter, remove the motor mount and motormount pedestal, and i had to jack up the motor just to get the needed clearance.

keep in mind that i had the heads off for this installation. having a lift would have made a BIG difference.
when reassembling the motor mount and pedestal loosely tighten the blots holding everything. it makes it sooooo much easier to insert the big mount bolt. it took my 2 full days of working on the heads and headers to get them in.

i tightene everything up today, the driver side clears everything quite well.
the passenger side on the otherhand just plane sucks!
i had to remove the header out and bang it into place cause one of the primaries was hitting the frame. it was a bit bad! less than 1/3 inch of interference. i ground what i could and hmmered on the primary to get it to fit. now it fits but it rubs. and i hope the flange will seal on the head.

There is no way that you should have had that much trouble installing QTP headers. Either your frame/K member is jacked or you got a bad set of headers. I'd check into both. As I stated, mine both went in from below with nothing other than an oil filter and drain plug removal. Best of luck to you. I would be making some calls, beating on a brand new set of $700 headers just isnt an option in my book.

well it's done now (finally!), and both headers hit the frame or just about. the driver side slightly touches the frame but the passenger side was really bad.

and when i tried to put in the O2 sensors they wouldn't go in . what happened is a small hole was drilled ( smaller than the tip of the sensor) then the bung was welded over it.

i'm calling QTP today about all this , just hoping i could get this resolved soon.

have you installed the y yet? thats what i had the most trouble w/. i have the merge and it was almost like the collector was a little uncentered(to the right) when it was put on the headers. which made it hard to fit the y pipe to the passenger headers.

i talked to barry today and he was veeeery helpfull.
i took a closerlook at my motor mount on the passenger side and it seemed quite worn out , so i guess the combo of that and not having a y-pipe to pull things in per say is causing that interference.
the cool thing is barry showed his true metal, he came thrrough and stood behind his product 100%

i'll be changing the motor mount soon ( man do i wish i had a lift, or at least a big jack) and my banging issues should be solved.
