Corsa exhaust with LT's???

I'm looking into the Corsa exhaust, but I have heard that it gets raspy with long tubes and ORY. I have a pair of Magnaflow metallic race cats, but I don't know if there'd be enough room to weld them into the Hooker ORY.

Will I hate this setup without cats? I tried LS1sounds.com but most of the clips have cars with aftermarket cam etc...

I'm sure I'll catch a bunch of shit for this, but, it will be very raspy! I've got Kooks LT's with their ORY and it is a whole lot more raspy than I'd care for it to be. The car is a mild h/c car. It sounds great @ idle and certain part throttle points but if you're cruising and gas it a bit it willl get raspy or always on decel. I've been wondering what the Magnaflow CB setup (stainless) would sound like without an ORY?

I got long tubes, ory and no cats with a Corsa cat back on my SS with a M6.There is some rasp but only at a small range of rpm at partial throttle.Once I learned the set up I was able to control how not to get the rasp by gear selection or how to get into the throttle.Besides the little rasp at times the set up sounds great especially at wot.

Yup......Corsa is RASPY with headers and ORY pipe. :barf::barf: It sounded terrible at 2000 - 3000 rpms. :barf::barf: Very loud as well. I swapped mufflers for an SLP dual dual and I enjoy the sound much better. :D:D Doesn't sound like shit anymore.

That was the biggest reason why I bought my Corsa.

turbowhistle86 Feb 17, 2008 11:27 PM

ok, so now my plan is to take a hooker ORY, cut it, and have my Magnaflow metallic spun cats welded into the Y pipe, then add the Corsa.....at least it will make some difference right?

vader99 Feb 18, 2008 12:06 AM

Either do that or put a bullet muffler in the ipipe such as a borla xr-1 or a magnaflow bullet. These bullets would flow better than the cats and still eliminate the rasp almost as good. I have the xr-1 in my ipipe and it made a huge difference.

^ yeah it will sound good with the metallic cats in youre hooker Y. I just got my corsa muffler in the other day, cant wait to install it. I have cats in my Y now but i was going to take them out. Guess i will leave them in and see how it sounds first...........POST a vid when you get youre setup installed!!!!!!

I have a cam and SLP LTs. I was running no cats for a couple of years and there was very little rasp and just about no interior drone. With cats on now (for inspection) there is even less rasp/drone.

amwellls1 Feb 24, 2008 02:53 PM

You will be fine, I have no rasp with the corsa and no cats

vader99 Feb 24, 2008 03:44 PM

Do you guys that say you have no rasp while you are running an ORY and longtubes even know what rasp is? Corsa + ORY = RASP.

maybe they have a good Y pipe design thats only 2.5" rather than 3" or a bullet muffler in the I. Everylittle bit helps to cut down

Ok, if they would say that they added things to eliminate the rasp, but to me it sounds like a blanket statement that corsa + ory = no rasp ---> and that statement couldn't be further from the truth. I had corsa + qtp longtubes and their flowmaster-collector offroad ypipe and it still rasped like a motherf*cker until I put a borla muffler in the ipipe.

true enough.....what borla muffler you put in the I? Did it make it any quieter and did it change the tone at all of the exhaust? Did it eliminate all rasp?

vader99 Feb 24, 2008 08:09 PM

I put a borla xr-1 in the ipipe. It took away 95% of the rasp. :D:D Plus, it made the exhaust sound deeper, especially when my cutout is open compared to before with no borla in the ipipe. The total sound volume might have come down just a hair but I think it sounds that way just because there is no more of that highpitched rasp that polluted the otherwise muscular sounding exhaust note.
