They are all "For off road use only". Gotta run shorties if you want to stay legal, and because you have an 01, the shorties available won't outflow your manifolds by a considerable amount. Either suck it up and run them illegally, or keep your manifolds...

When you buy headers you can get race headers that come with out the air fittings, or you can get them with the air fittings attached. with them attached you will not need to delete the air, but you will still need to get the rear o2 sensors tuned out. When you put on LT's 99 time out of a 100 it will throw a code for the o2 sensors.

Yes it is possible to pass inspections with LTs. I purchased my car in NC and with LTs with EGR, y-pipe with highflow cats and stock SS catback it passed inspection.

Just because its illegal dosent mean you cant pass emmissions. It depends on whos looking at your car. You gotta call around to places and ask the techs quetions. I called firestone over my way in ct and I asked them if there was anything in the books about long tubes being illegal. He didnt have a clue so I was good to go. As long as your not throwing any codes and you dont have a super cop looking over your car your good. Also depends on what state your in.
Heres my system I have for sale that I passed with

IMO - regardless of type of header, if the car has cats then it will pass the visual inspection.

Well your opinion and EPA laws are in conflict. EPA laws state it is illegal to move the cat from its original position the manufacturer orginally palced it. MOST inspectors will pass the car as long as all equipment is installed and operating.

There is no difference with AIR or EGR installed or removed. The AIR sysyem only operates for about 5-8 minutes to help the cats get up to temp faster. The EGR system only operates under part throttle such as when you are cruising at a steady speed.

Well, around here (Bay Area), the last 3 times I went to for smog, ALL the techs looked both in the engine area and THEN under the car. The first time I asked what they were looking for, and the one guy (nice old Korean gentleman), told me in his best English, he needed to check if the catalytic converters were in their original locations. He said if they had been moved, "No can test." That's basically when I was educated in the (il)legality of long tube headers; at least around here. What is it that makes moving the cats illegal, since all long tubes involve moving the cats?
