Is the TSP lid worht changing the one I have.
I have an aftermarket lid. It doesn't have a name on it. Its just solid black and it doesn't fit really well. I want to buy a new one and I heard the TSP one is the one to get. What do you guys think? Does anyone know what lid I have? What kind of improvement am I looking at?
Thanks
Thanks

I doubt youll get much improvement if you already have a lid. But if you plan to get another anyway due to fitment probmlems, I see no reason not to go with TSP, I plan to get one because they are the only ones I know of that make one that fits the 85 mm MAF (then again I really have nt done much looking)

I switched to a TSP lid because of poor fit on my Direct-Flo lid. The TSP seals perfect every time with no leaks (I tested it with a leaf blower).

mine doesnt fit very well. don't know if it leaks or not but it doesn't look like there is a very good seal even when i can get it on right. then next time i open the hood though i always find it popped right back off.

There was literally a .1 RWHP difference between my LG lid and an 85mm TSP lid, with no other changes made, and perhaps 5 minutes between dyno runs.
However, I am sticking with the TSP piece because the fit really is excellent, and it makes for a cleaner install with my 85mm MAF. Additionally, I got one of the lids w/out an IAT hole so that just makes the installation that much more tidy. Honestly, the only aftermarket lid out there that seems to offer up sub-par performance is the SLP piece; not that I have any personal experience, but from what others have indicated, the SLP is just barely better than the factory piece.

I switched from an popular lid out there to a TSP and picked up a consistant 2rwhp and 2rwtq on a 450rwhp H/C 346 car. Those gains from just switching lids is worth it to me when it's hard to find extra hp. I think it seals alot better too. I give it two thumbs up.

Well everybody with an aftermarket lid and their old stock airbox should try this experiment Go to the track or dyno & swap out the lid for the stock one. Make a pass or pull and report back their findings. It would be entertaining reading at least.

If this lid is available with no IAT hole where are you guys moving the Iat to? I have noticed as much as a 35 degree difference in IAT temp idling to rolling at about 40 mph.I wonder how this affects the timing??

a lid is a lid is a lid... NOT
a girl is a girl is a girl... NOT
I've tryed most of them, lids, not girls...
I think the TSP is a better lid, as the area, [diameter], before the MAF is larger, & is less of a restriction.
I just got my TSP lid & really compared it with the Direct-Flo lid I removed. Big difference in 'neck' size...
SOTP is a-ok, but the track will tell if SOTP is for real...

Re: Is the TSP lid worht changing the one I have.
I just ordered a black TSP lid for an 85mm MAF I specified that I wanted the IAT hole to be drilled into it Just bought a new IAT and grommet too so I don't have to wrestle (again) with the factory sensor that I cracked installing into my SLP lid back in the day (thank god for duct tape) Lid should ship late next week sometime. It's gotta do better than the ill-fitting SLP lid I've had on my car for the last 5 years......
