Default Are the electric cutouts still leaking?

I remember seeinbg a lot of posts about QTO electric cutouts leaking and even some having the motors quit on them; is this still an issue or have they been problem-free?

I've been through so many of them of all brands that I gave up. I got tired of them falling apart all the time.

both of my QTP cutouts had motor problems and leaked abit ,So I called QTP and they told me to send them back for a rebuild for 35.00 each. So will see if there any more problem.I hope not ,I like opening up my exhaust and making noise.

The gearmotors really want you to clean & lube them once
in a while. The cutout "throat" needs to be kept from crusting
up; mine got stuck once the other month (had not been
opened in several) and needed to scrape past some crud that
had built up.

It's not a happy environment for a mechanical gizmo, it helps
to use it often and care for it occasionally.

Ive had three... 2 qtp ones and my current DMH... all worked great and you'll get a little leak once in a while when something blocks the opening... (road grim and rocks)

I cleaned mine about every few months ,,When i opened them up for the last time the driver side stuck haft way open ,I removed them and the shafts felt free (loose) ,it is in the gearbox, The motors on both of them came loose and had to take them apart and tighten them up ,Ive used red loctite and steal wont stay tight plus the gear box is hanging up.

I got a call for QTP today , and they replaced both motors and gear boxes for 35.00 each. A total of 70.00 for both cutouts rebuilt, That to me is a hell of a deal, I shipped them out on Friday and the already have them ready to ship back to me , excellent customer support and very fast turn around.
