Default Want to add longtubes but need to pass emissions

I want to add a set of long tube headers but I still drive the car and need to pass emissions In Houston Tx. The only y pipe set ups I have seen are the off road with no cats. How are you guys with long tubes and off road y pipes passing emissions? I am guessing when I buy my headers I will also need the provisions for the air and egr right?

I'm not sure about the emissions down there in texas, but I think they don't do the sniffer down there for your year of car. Texas-Speed has a catted Y pipe if you do. If there is no sniffer and they just check OBDII codes, you can buy headers without air, and egr, and cats and just get the codes deleted that pop up from the LTs and ORY.

Yes you would need the headers with A.I.R. and E.G.R. fittings as well as a catted y pipe although technically messing with the emissions system at all is illegal.

I live in Harris County and I am pretty sure they do the sniffer test on all Year cars here.

Hooker makes a set that sells for about $400 thats good. Just go to your local F-body mechanic, and he can hook you up with a ORY with cats for about the same as you would buying it from "joe schmoe". Personally I recommend going with a true duel set up. It will sound and flow better. It will cost a little more, but you get what you pay for with these cars.

Dont buy a pipe from any company, have someone make it for you. Chances are it will flow better.

They don't do the sniffer on OBDII cars in North Texas.

thats a load of crap. all 96 and newer obd2 cars are hooked to the computer and then they get a visual. the sniffer is for obd1 and older. as for passing, as long as they dont look at your cats you will be fine. i passed inspection with my race headers.
