Default Any ideas on how loud this will be and how it will sound?

Well this will be my new exhaust setup. I was bored with the old one (TSP Duals dumped w/ Dynomax Bullets). Some people said it was too loud, my girlfriend said it wasn't nearly loud enough.... so this is what we decided on. Since the car will be stalled with a 4000 and have the MS4/PRC 5.3 2.5 combo this thing should gain some power up top over the duals without me having to care in the least about whatever power I'll lose down low.

Question is, how loud will this be and how should it sound? I'm hoping for louder than the duals before and I will just put two turndowns on the ends of each muffler and have them turned out as opposed to directly at the ground.

Loud. Probably more rasp than the duals because you have less pipe. At WOT it probably won't be TOO much different. Louder inside the car. If your really into loud put an electric cutout in front of each muffler so you have a loud option and a really loud option. If you turn them out expect the echo off of walls/ other cars when you pass to be deafening. It is a good deafening though.

I chose the XR-1's because they are suppose to be one of the best sounding mufflers around. I'm pretty sure I'll be pleased with the tone of the exhaust. If not, I'll sell them and go with something else lol

I personally love the XR-1's and the Dynomax bullets. I think it should sound sick, especially with the MS4.

Camaro396 we put pacesetter longtubes with an open Y pipe on my friend's LT1 saturday night. It was loud as hell at WOT but I expected it to be louder at idle. He is just getting a single dynomax bullet put on there and it already has dual cutouts. 6 hour installation for everything with used parts that didn't fit perfectly and took time for a taco bell run. I had only heard horror stories about LT1's and LT's. It's bs.

it will be loud.. no rasp though that only happens with Y pipe cars. for sure run turndowns/outs on there though to help control the direction of the sound. leaving it dumped right out of the muffler will resonate like crazy in the car. those are some huge diameter mufflers.. I don't know how you are going to get them to fit on the drivers side with the support brace in there.

Yeah, I didn't know the XR-1's were that big in diameter. The support brace was removed when I did the duals previously. I don't know, we'll have to see how she fits.

Even with that brace removed you're gonna have a hell of a time making that fit. Unless your goal was 1/4" ground clearance .

Your O2 sensors are gonna punch you in the face for doing that to them. I hope you have enough clearance right where those are gonna go. You should sell them off and get one of these:
