QTP LT's and Y Pipe - Race Style

Any clearance issues w/ QTP LT race headers and QTP Y Pipe on a 2" lowered car?

ls2 bait Mar 26, 2008 09:28 PM

there wont be any ground clearance on a 2 inch lowered car. it will hit everything.

tee-boy Mar 26, 2008 09:38 PM

how about kook's on 2" lowered car? any better than QTP?

marovetsm Mar 26, 2008 09:49 PM

either way ground clearance is going to be an issue, I still drag every once and a while with stock ride height.

CamaroGuy27 Mar 26, 2008 09:59 PM

not hijack this thread or anything but, does anyone know what has a greater ground clearance issue, between SLP LT's and QTP LT's.

definetly qtps over slp..slp is known for being the lowest hanging headers for our cars...but then again they just came out with a completely new design that i dont think anyone has tried yet..

You wont have an issue with the headers. All y pipes will give you an issue if your dropped 2". Custom oval would be your best bet but its $$$$

ls2 bait Mar 27, 2008 08:12 AM

my qtp headers hang a solid 1" lower then my pacesetters did. so the y pipe is only part of the problem.

I wouldent lower my car with my QTP's race style and 3" Y if you take a steep drive way you wll mess them up. But I think the SS was set up a little lower than a Z not 100% shure thats what some one told me.

My QTP's tuck up nicely, but there are other brands that give you a little more room. From what I've seen, Kooks tuck up a little better. QTP headers are longer than most other brands, so it's kind of a give and take. You sacrifice a tad of ground clearance for a little more performance. I never have plans to lower my car and I have oodles of clearance from the collectors. Here's a shot:

Plenty of room for me, but on a 2" lowered car, ANY longtube is going to be a nightmare, especially the y-pipe. If I were you, I'd raise it up a little bit. FWIW, my exhaust now has better clearance than the stock exhaust (custom y-pipe) and the collectors are not even the lowest part of the exhaust. The cutout every once in awhile scrapes with people in the backseat, but that's my own damn fault for putting it on such an extreme angled tilt :nono:

Here's a wide shot for the full effect:

I see you have the headers welded to the Y haha wont be changing your heads in the garage haha. You have more room than I do thats for shure looks good.

ls2 bait Mar 27, 2008 08:46 PM

my car is lowered about 1.75"-1.5"
