ORY for pacesetter lts

I just got a set of pacesetter lts and im not sure what ory to use..i dont really like the merge of the pacesetter y and it seems like alot of people have problems with it banging on the floorboard. Will any other brand y pipes fit pacesetters?

http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/ has one that works good with the Pacesetters LT'S

CAMAROZ28AQUINO 03-27-2008 03:49 PM

dude...go get a custom Y made with a flowmaster mergre. I stepped my Y down to 2.5" and then back out to 3 inch for my catback. But the good thing about the flowmaster merge is that the two inlets are 2.5" and then the outlet is 3" which is perfect IMO....i did this for clearance and because i was running cats, and on the drivers side i notched a little piece that sticks out of the floor for extra space and then welded a piece over it so its still structually good. Even without it it wouldnt do anything because the piece cut was so small. Hope this helps. BUt if you dont want to go this route u can get an ory from texas speed and i think hooker Y;s mate up to the pacesetters as well

thats exactly what i was thinking about doing was getting a custom one made with the flowmaster merge. do you think 2.5" merging into 3" will be good, or should i go with the two 3" into a 4" merge? also do you mind if i ask you about how much the shop charged u to fab everything up?

jrob56 03-27-2008 05:16 PM

id like to know that^ as well, i am considering doing a y into the stock catback with a cutout

bigti99a 03-27-2008 05:39 PM

so flowmaster doesn't offer a 3" in and 3" out merge??

Eric95 03-27-2008 05:46 PM

nope they only offer the merges in 2.5" in, 3" out and 3" in, 4" out

CAMAROZ28AQUINO 03-27-2008 05:48 PM

^no they dont offer a 3" to 3". i just decided to go 2.5" to 3" for clearance and better sound...2.5" to 3" will be plenty, IMO 3" to 4" is too big unless youre going big hp. For a H/C/I LS1 thats plenty enough. Especially if you want to lower do the 2.5" and i would consider notching out the small piece on the drivers side, really helps out a ton for clearance. The shop that did the work charged me $250 Canadian (from canada). I also used 2 flowmaster header reducers (3" to 2.5") off the collectors but the shop you go to can just expand 2.5 inch piping to 3 inch to make it work. Lemme know what you decide to go with!

Eric95 03-27-2008 06:01 PM

yea im pretty sure im gonna go with the 2.5" y set up..i was looking at those flowmaster venturi reducers to go from the 3" collectors down to 2.5"...would there be any advantage to using these instead of just having the shop expand a 2.5" pipe to fit the collectors?

CAMAROZ28AQUINO 03-27-2008 06:18 PM

no there wouldnt be any advantage....i honestly didny know that they could expand the piping hahahaha...but its up to you, there only like $30 if you wanna buy them.

I've got the 4" flowmaster Y on my pacesetter y. Check out the link in my sig. Its got a soundclip, pictures of how they did it, and clearance pics as well on a stock ride height camaro.

I got the texas-speed y, it wasn't too bad. I am sure it would have been easier with a lift.

from the sticky....

A 2.75” (stock) single system is good for a 310hp engine with zero loss…
A 3” Single system is good for a 370hp engine with zero loss…
A 3.5” Single system is good for a 503hp engine with zero loss…
A 4” Single system is good for a 657hp engine with zero loss…
A 2.25” dual system is good for a 457hp engine with zero loss…
A 2.5” dual system is good for a 513hp engine with zero loss…
A 3” dual system is good for a 812hp engine with zero loss…

Texas Speed ORY.

Might as well throw in some new poly motor mounts while you at it.

i have the pacesetter ORY, works just fine.

y-pipe banging is about 90% install error, with that being said.
every vehicle is different, there will be some sort of tolerance level.
you want it perfect then have someone custom fab one up.
poly mounts will reduce engine movement, therefore little exhaust movement as well, to reduce banging. :D

i bought the texas speed 3" ory havent put it on yet but it looks good and seems to be made good

TUFAS4U 03-28-2008 09:27 PM

I used a jet-hot y, same finish as the pacsetters and fite great. basically a hooker y-pipe coated w/a cleaner merge

KurtRardin 03-29-2008 12:15 AM

Im tellin you all, once you see a flowmaster merge, you wont want anything else other than true duals. Take a look at the pics of the 4" merge in my sig. The pacesetter merge sucks so bad that they ought to be ashamed to have sold so many to people. Flowmaster merges are dirt cheap for what you get, and the sound improvement is way more than you can imagine. It took all of about 10 minutes for the shop here to fit it into my Pacesetter Y pipe with premade mandrel bends that they stocked.
