Default Flowmaster CB question. I know, its different. Plus another question.

I bought my car with the 3" Flowmaster cat back. I want to switch it out because well its Flowmaster and I have read a lot on here about it not being good plus I would like Hooker or Magnaflow or something else.

A guy at work that is really into cars has owned 3 Fbodies and a few drag cars. He tells me I wouldnt see any gain if I were to switch Cat Backs since I have the 3" system. I dont think that is correct. Is he right? Do you think I would gain any if I switch to the Hooker or Magnaflow or something else(would like Corsa or (GMMG but they are pricey)? I now have 360whp(see Fquick for full mod list).

Another question. I would like the Flowmast 1 chamber. Is there any way I could get it put in the stock location or would I have to add pipe in there and then put the muffler in the I pipe?

From what ive read and heard, i dont think you will see a difference in performance but just in exhaust sound. Magnaflow would be a great choice, other then that. I really dont know man....

You could just swap mufflers, you'll lose that flowmaster sound but you can rest assured that you aren't leaving any power on the table.

There's not a whole lot of room for the single chamber in the I pipe but you could try, It just might drag on speed bumps and such.

Im going for power, plus I like the sound of the Hooker. I think I might just swap out the mufflers.

I just posted my dyno results on here with your same setup. I have the FM CB w/ an electric exhaust cutout. I put down 398rwhp through the Flowmaster and 406rwhp with the cutout open. Thats only an 8hp difference, and all that is top end power anyway. The Flowmaster doesnt hold back as much as people claim it does on these forums. Hope this helps.
