Default electric cutout on stock exhaust

I would like my exhaust to be a little louder, but I don't want to spend alot of money right now. I like the fact that an electric cutout allows me to make it loud when I want. Has anyone done a cutout on stock exhaust? If so, how does it sound? Also, does anyone know someone in Dallas that I can buy the electric cutout from and have them install it?

I have a regular cutout on my stock exhaust, and I must say, it definitely is worth it. I felt an increase over my stock muffler in the high rpm's, and the sound was a lot better. It's a nice, deep rumble and will really scream when you really get on it! Best $70 mod I did ($35 for 3" Flowtech cutout, $35 for install). I'm going to get an electric valve for it when I get the money, just so I can have it loud at the flick of a switch.

I have a soundclip on my computer at home, and will post the link when I get out of work today. Some people don't like the raw sound it provides, but it isnt that bad.

I have hooker long tubes with stock ex and I just added 2 3 inch cut-outs with an electric cut-out on each one.Nice for a sleeper. And when you go up town or drive by a parking lot for of imports and stangs you can set every car alarm off in the lot I like it just cost a lot to get 2 electric cut-outs just my 0.02 cents

I say deffinitly go for the cut-out. I spent over $400 on a Flowmaster exhaust, ever since I put the cut-out on, I always leave it wide open, so the Flow Master was kind of a waste (not a total waste). Unless your car is lowered, just get the regular cut-out, it only takes 20 seconds to unscrew three wing nuts, but it all depends on you finances, have fun, and set tons of car alarms off for us, especially in parking garages.

I went full circle, aftermarket catbacks etc. Now I'm back to a "stock" system....an SLP Dual/Dual takeoff from an 01 SS and a 3" QTEC cutout.

Best of both worlds, closed or open, I can control my sound level with a flip of the switch.

Welcome I have one or two sound clips and videos on my computer at home, I'll host them when I get home from work. Those videos might be the best though, good sound quality and good clear pictures. Check the other clips out at http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/qtec.htm listed along the right hand side

After looking through my computer at home, I figured out that the 2 QTEC videos posted above are great for replicating the sound. Also, I uploaded this one, hope you can hear it good. It's a stock exhaust, cutout open and an inside sound clip. Hope it works, please right click and 'save target as'. thanks

Is there that much of a problem installing the electric cutout on a lowered car? I've got the eibach pro kit and am sitting on Z06's (17's & 18's). I was planning on going with the dual qtp setup but if clearance is an issue I may have to re-think this one. Anyone done something similar? Thanks.

The QTP's are great in my opinon.. Using one with the stock exhaust is nice, but I wanted to use a different approach do to the cats..

I gained 17 HP and 13 lb-ft of torque with my cutout. QTP cutout is a rip off of the McCord Power Plate. They stole his design. I would go with the McCord if I were you. It is a piece of cake to mount the power plate to any cutout you have welded in.
