This is one of those mods i think you really need to remove at the track completely and not tape off..

I think taping it off was blocking the normal bottom flow to the airbox

I just did a similar mod to the Formula. I wonder if I'll see similar gains.

The poor man's WS6 Ram Air mod

I know full well the benefits of ram air. I trapped almost 115mph and only dyno'd 334rwhp with my
home made ram air intakes. I made these about six years ago when I couldn't afford to buy a
plastic FTRA setup.
$36 at the junk yard for scrap 316 SS sheetmetal.
I made mine to follow the front contour of the opening, spacing them off of the radiator as to
not inhibit air flow.

Would this work ok with a WS6? I thought I read somewhere that this would cause turbulence and you could actually lose power. Someone please clarify for me. This looks really good right now!

no it will work perfectly fine with a ws6...just need a bigger seal for the front opening slit...could also pick up a stock z28, ss, or firebird lid base too for basically nothing...definitely one of the best mods for the money for our cars...

here is one i did for my buddies car that still has the ac...it has tons of flow being designed for max effort with the ac inplace and not hacking up the radiator support...

here are some pictures

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...t=#post8331164

it is a really nice piece i think

All materials have gone up...you can imagine my surprise when I went to buy my fiancees matching wedding band and found out that the price of platinum decided to skyrocket since last fall when I bought the engagement ring.

We have been absorbing material costs for years and trying not to raise the price of the FTRA. Still we have people that think they cost too much and will build there own. Our kits are made of T304 stainless steel which costs more than aluminum as well!
