Default will removing my a/c belt hurt anything?

I was wanting to remove my A/C belt on my 2000 Trans Am to gain a few horses @ the track, but the car is my daily driver and I would like to keep my A/C. Would taking the belt off for a short period of time hurt my air conditioning system?

Nope.... I use to do it, until I tore out the AC system.

Well, you cant have your belt off and expect it to blow cool air out...

But, not running your AC and having the AC belt off wont hurt a thing.

I had mine off for ~3 months, then put it back on and all was good to go.

i had mine removed for roughly 6 months and when i put the belt back on and began spinning the compressor it sounded horrible. like it had rusted/corroded inside or something. squealing and carrying on..after a few days of this it finally went away and sounded normal. functioned fine the entire time it was running, noise or not.
