How's my TB look?

Did a port job on the TB, getting ready to get this damn engine into my car...just wanted to know how it looks to you guys. I mostly tried to smooth the bump ring that went around the inside...but maybe it could use more?

looks good. some people do other little trick things like thin down the tb blade shaft and screws. maybee think about a bump stop mod. but that looks like a real good transition in there.

i have done around 15 of these and to me everyone seems to get most of the gain from half shafting. Looks good though just finish her up polish i mean..lol

damn, bet that blade feels sticky as hell. Looks great.

Here some other stuff you can do...

what do you mean about the blade being "sticky"? it moves freely

i am going to go back and polish it, I just wanted to know if I removed enough material first ;)

my tb was NASTY, completely coated with a thick black crud that took 10 minutes to remove with brake parts cleaner and a parts washer

I found it to be a good use of my time and kinda fun...

EDIT: my bad, didn't mean to offend sponsors or admin

fwiw I did my little brothers for his 00 5.3 and he was very pleased with it (i traded labor for his old coil packs since my ls1 came without them)

looks good, wish I could do this

Bad Blue WS6 Jun 9, 2008 03:10 PM

most times the blade being at that much of a sharpo edge, will feel like its catching, and be hard to open...your blade looks awesome, but you have a ton of material still left at the outer lip, looks almost like you did some, but not all,,kinda uneven looking... and that big hump right b4 the blade is still there

Be careful asking folks about working TB's if your not a sponser..its one thing to be asked, its a whole nother thing to ask. (read the stickies) :emb:

Looks great, nice job. One more thing you should do though is work a little more around the opening (front edge). There's more material to be removed there.

mmm,,booobies

5_02ls1 Jun 9, 2008 05:18 PM

yep theres alot left to remove...

thunderstruck507 Jun 9, 2008 06:40 PM

thats what I was wondering about, because I was told to focus mainly on the bump

its uneven around the lip because that section of the lip had a crease molded into it, so I thought that should at least be smoothed out

my blade doesn't stick at all, it did at first, but a quick pass with a scotchbrite pad made it nice and smooth on open
