Stock exhaust w/ cut-out vs. LT and TD...

I just ordered my LTs to complete my exhaust and right now im running with just a cut-out, How much will i loose or gain with the LT and TD over the stock exhaust w/ cut-out?? Just seeing if i should buy the 2 cut-outs if its worth it.

Thanks

If you are still running the factory ypipe with cats and switch to long tubes you could pick up as much as 20 rwhp. Since you have nitrous the gains will be noticable.

yea im still running that factory pancake y-pipe and cats. is that 20 rwhp over factory or the cut-out? Or does the cut-out only free up minimal amount of HP with the factory exhaust?

You will feel a difference because the stock manifolds,y,and cats with cutout don,t flow as much as longtubes. The true duals will sound nice with the LTs .

The Cutout is more for sound on a stock exhaust setup man. I hope you've thought about o2 extentions and a way to shutoff or fool your rear o2s.

Actually, a cutout is well worth it on a stock exhaust. I picked up 11 hp and 8 tq at the wheels by opening a cutout on SS when it was stock. Dyno proven.

Oh its deffinantly worth it, I wasn't trying to imply that its a waste of time, just that you get more of a sound increase than power.

you can gain as much as 30rwhp with the lt td setup and a decent tune...

back to back track runs gained my 20rwhp with a cutout in stock exhaust when i was stock internal in my z28...definitely worth it and it is not more of a sound increase, it is more of a power increase with an added benifit of sound...

i only gained 15rwhp going from stock manifolds and cats to qtps and ORY...

stock exhaust flows pretty good (except the muffler) especially when you are still with the stock heads and cam...

I would leave the cutout and the stock catback...not going to gain much if anything going to duals...

I put 1 3/4 headers and a custom 3inch y and 3 inch to the axel with a cutout

therealcreeper 06-22-2008 10:33 AM

kdavis, how loud is your setup?

kdavis 06-22-2008 11:01 AM

its decent, after the axel it goes back to the stock muffler. So when i want to be queit just close the cut out and when i want to have it loud, just open it.

td's sounds great!!!! i had mine dumped for only acouple weeks cause i got tired of not bein able to carry on convo's so i put the crossover pipe in and made it a H set-up and had the pipes extended uder the axle and out the back . . . quieted her down and i love the sound even more now
