Default make sure your MAF is clean if you run K&N filters

On a dyno session I had on Friday my car was running quite lean (where it wasn't a problem in the past). It was close to 14.0:1 A/F at WOT

We tuned it back to 13.0 but then realized the MAF was covered with K&N airfilter oil We pulled the MAF and cleaned it and made another dyno pull. A/F then dropeed from 13.0:1 to 12.0:1 So after all that fuss, the original fuel maps were reinstalled and the A/F is now a clean 13.0:1 across the board.

CHECK YOUR MAF SENSORS

This has been a public service announcement

Just out of curiousity, what would be the safest way to clean the MAF wires?

I use a q-tip, and electrical contact cleaner. Had the same problem in May at an autox event in rain; sucked water past the filter onto the MAF, car ran like crap.

So if I'm running rich, I can put some K&N oil on my MAF to lean it out?

Use contact cleaner in a spray can works great.

Wait a second, doesn't the elements of a MAF go into a "burn-off" cycle once the engine is shut off to burn away any contaninants?

As I understand it, the earlier LT1 had MAFs that had a burn-off cycle. The LS1 cars do not have this feature.
BTW, Hi Castaic neighbor!
