Default LS1 VS 6.0 Headgasket

I had someone tell me that it is ok to put 5.7l mls head gaskets on a 6.0l engine. The 6.0l is stock bore but will have boost. I am just checking to see if this person is full of it or if that will work fine.

That person is full of it! You need to run the appropriate gasket based on the bore size of the engine, or the chamber size of the cylinder head. So for the 6.0L you have, you need a 6.0L gasket. Otherwise the gasket will be exposed to the combustion process and potentailly fail.

12secSS is correct, a 6.0l gasket would be needed. GM Does make a MLS gasket for that setup so you should be able to grab one of those pretty easily.

He said that the 5.7 is 8 thousandths of an inch smaller than the 6.0.

Thanks

GM wouldn't make a gasket that has a different bore size by 8/1000th of an inch.

The 5.7L bore is 3.89", where as the 6.0L bore is 4.00", that doesn't equate to .008 ... more like .110". Stop trusting this person and listen to the facts. If this person is referring to the thickness, they both come in the same thickness.
