Default Budget 6.0L, 5.3 heads?

I have a 2003 6.0 Lq4 bottom end. How would a set of stock 2007 Non-DOD heads from a 5.3 do with this combination. I am debating on doing a cam and springs from comp cams maybe or just putting an lq9 cam in that I already have. Would these heads benefit from a mild port and polish job. My hope is that the smaller chamber of the 5.3 heads will make up for the dished pistons in the LQ4 block to get the compression up some more. Its a daily driver z28 with an auto not going to the track or any type of racing. The oil pump died and my wife drove the ls1 till it died.

I think the 5.3L heads would do great . If you plan on doing a cam I wouldn't go any bigger than a cam with over 224 degrees at .050 on a 114 LSA since its a dd. If your on a budget the hotcam usually goes for cheap on here, i bought mine for $100 and new valve springs for $56 couldn't be happier considering the cost.

whats the valve size on them 07 53 heads the ones a little older had a lot smaller valves if you wanted to keep the 53 heads at least get a set of 2.00 intake valves cut in and whatever the matching exhaust valves are i just think the power of the added compression is going to be offset by the loss of flow from the stock 317s also you could pick up a set of ls6 heads 243s they go for around 550 on ebay that give a decent compression bump and nno loss of flow

even the 241 ls1 heads flow better than the 5.3 heads
the 5.3 heads come with 1.89 intake valves
1.55 for exhaust valves.
with 241 heads, the scr will be at 9.8:1
mill those heads .020 for 10.25:1

Texas Speed's 5.3 heads flow just as much as their ported ls6's! The compression bump is awesome if they do flow what they say. I am debating on some tsp 5.3 heads for my 6.0. I am questioning the bore size to combustion chamber size. Anybody know anything on this subject? Any 5.3 headed 6 liters out there?

If wanting a stock unported head id opt. for a 243/799 head. Best bang for the buck and have them ported down the road.

LQ4 6.0 here bored to a 370 with flat top pistons running TSP 5.3 heads and a 230/232 cam with 600+ lift. My pistons do have valve reliefs. I love it, runs very hard and has great torque all around (great low end).
