What are benefits to going w/aftermarket lifters please??

What are benefits to going w/aftermarket lifters please?? right now i'm running stock lifters with the HD Rev dual valve springs that are supposed to be able to handle .650lift or better and I'm running an X1 cam....
I'm hearing things that maybe the springs are too much for the lifters...do any of you think this is the case w/my car? And if I were to go aftermarket lifters I have to pull the heads to get'em out correct?
