Default talk me into or out of a tsp 231/237

Ok right now i have a TR224 112 cam & i'm thinking of ordering a new cam tommorow or thursday but i want some feedback. Mods are in sig with a lsx manifold coming as my next mod over the winter and then within a yr a set of stage 2 heads. but what i realy want to know is will the TSP cam out perform my TR cam now with the stock LS1 intake

I had goo results with the RPM stage 2 cam. Stock ls1 intake, stock throttle body, stock pullies, no tuning.



The TSP 231/237 seems to be an incredible cam to say the least. I dont know how it would fare with an LS1 intake, but im sure you wouldnt be dissapointed. Give them a call.

The 231/237 is hard to beat.There will be more dyno resuts Friday.I would call Jason or Trevor and ask them.

what do you think about my 918's with under 2k on them cause i realy do not feel like changing the springs again until i do heads next yr sometime.BTW i have TR hardened push rods and titainium retainers if that matters

I don't think you will have to change the springs.Gomer's car will dyno with this cam friday and he is running the 918's.

You didn't list any dyno numbers for the setup you have, but there was a dyno sheet posted on LS1.com with this cam, mac headers, cats, and some other restrictive parts, that made 401 rwhp. Pretty impresive, and the numbers are becoming "proven", with more and more people switching to it. I have a brand new one for sale in the FS section. E-mail me if you are interested. I am running the TSP cam and it is great! Just ask the 2 vipers and the 400+ rwhp NSX that got their butt handed to them by it.

I made 420rwhp through a ford 9'' with 4.30 gears, with all the bolt ons. I lost 29 rwhp going from the 10 bolt to the 9'' so take that into consideration.

It is a great cam, and the only reason I'm selling mine is to go crazy big and go solid roller.

Do you have to pass emissions? If so, I would get the biggest cam that would pass.

Call me crazy, but my 224/224 112 cam has been putting the same MPH and ET out as larger cammed cars. And im running an LS1 intake, stock tune and throttle body. I know theres more peak power out there in other cams, and i have never dynoed.But i think for the money, if it were me, id do heads and keep what you have. Especially if your worried about springs. I mean, if you just dished out near a grand for an intake, then dont respend the money on the cam. Get yourself a nice set of heads, like the new Patriot LS6 styles with the dual springs. Then your top end is set. Just MO for the money ofcourse.

If you could just hear the way my car sounds now and feel the way it pulls since I changed out to the TSP cam.. you'd have to get one. No only does it sound nasty and perform better than I expected.. the low speed around town driving is actually excellent!!

Btw...I'm running 918's on mine and the valvetrain is much quieter than it was when I had 978's and the TR220

You should be fine with the 918's and the 231/237. A customer of ours went from a 224 to the 231/237 and picked up 15RW. He posted up the results awhile back. You might be able to do a search and find it.

Why spend $900 on an LSX plus coolant lines for 5-10 hp on a cam only car when you could spend $1100 with core exchange for a set of 5.3 heads from Patriot. Especially when you might have concerns about your valvetrain. The Patriot heads come with everything you need to run the 231 cam.

Get it I got it and put 401 to the wheels with a stock TB, and a stock MAF. Also it does sound nasty. I get complaments about it all the time and even from other f-body guys. A couple of said it's the nasty sounding LS1 cam they have ever heard.

I haven't bought a LSX manifold yet and i hope that it gains more than 5-10 hp over my LS1 intake with a cam & bolt on car. As for spending money i plan on selling my cam and the 231 cam is on sale now so the price differance is not that much. Then after a new manifold whether it's a LS6 or a LSX then i can get the maximum gains from a new set of heads At least thats MO

I'm not sure yet but i'm leaning the same way. I would definitly like to see a dyno post with a stock headed car
