Default Oil pressure low after H/C

Just got finished up last night putting in heads /cam and after the car was started the oil pressure was pretty low, around 20 at idle and just under 40 when you give it some gas. This is with TSPs ported / shimmed LS6 oil pump. With the stock pump before the H/C swap I would see 40 ish at idle and between 50-60 while driving. Gonna get back into it today and make sure the O-ring wasnt pinched or something. Not sure what to check other than that, any ideas?

Maybe look the oil pump over one more time just to make sure nothing got in it during installation and maybe blow through the pick up tube also to make sure it's free of obstruction. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be the O-ring though.

Also verify that the cam retainer plate still has the seal on the back side of it, and that it isn't cut or anything. Also that the plate if tightened/torqued properly.

More often than not though, the O-ring is the issue.

Did you put the oil pump spacers on right? You can flip the one on the drivers side and still have oil pressure, but LOW? Also what o-ring did you use?

Definatley make sure the spacer behind the oil pump is installed correctly. I had the same symptoms you have and the shim was backwards, which only allowed about half of the volume to flow at idle. We tore it bakc apart and had it back together correctly in 4 hours. good luck

well took it apart and the o-ring was fine. Spacer was correct and cam retainer plate was fine as well. Gonna put the stock back on and see if its still low or if its back to normal. The O-ring was a new one from TSP, nothing worng with it.

Think the problem has been found, bent tab on the new oil pump. Probably from when it was clamped for the machining? Its about 1/8 of an inch from being flat.

Picture of said clamp? The pumps are never clamped down for porting here. Let me know what it is so we can get you taken care of!!
