Im in your same boat and i was looking at the el torro wich is a 230/230 612 592 111lsa which is xfi/xer lobe... but instead i was wonderin how maybe a 230/232 612 595 111lsa xfi/xer would perform and if gains against the 230/230.... or maybe SOMbitch's cam 230/234 612 598 on a 111lsa?? what would the extra exhaust duration do compared to the 230/230??
Since I am running cats I needed a little more on the exhaust side. It would help if you ever plan to spray too. My 111LSA is advanced 2* BTW.

Just curious if an xer cam is has 600 lift and an xfi cam has 600 lift all else being equal how does the xfi have more lift?

not a cam expert by any means but I believe it has something to do with the xfi lobes having a greater ramp rate than xer lobes, hence the higher lift at the same duration.

That cam would be a good lower rpm torque cam but it would be really peaky and not carry past peak very well would make peak hp around 6000rpm. I would set it up on a 111 LSA 110 icl. This would center the overlap over TDC and would make peak hp around 6200-6300 rpm (LS6 intake ideal peak) and it would rev well past peak since the overlap is centered. The 108 icl would have a IVC of 40 degrees and +2 of intake biased overlap, this would make it a real peaky cam that falls off, probably good for a truck though lots of low end torque.

Yeah, the 224/230 xfi tends to be 'peaky', but the area under the curve is solid. I made peak power ~6300 rpm with LS6 heads, which sounds high, but HP was within 5 from 6000-6600 with no real drop off.

as far as a great street cam, I love the 224/230 111+1 xfi cam. I made 387 with stock 98 heads, ls6 intake and the dyno pulls being stopped at 5800 rpms do to the driveshaft popping out and I expect this cam to peak at around 6300 and pull out to 6700 or so. I have no doubt that with a 243 head or even porting my head would net me a substancial gain as well as finishing the tune. My power at 3k was right around 200rwhp/370rwtq
