Default stock LS1 which heads and camshaft will be the best for the buck?

What camshaft and cyl. heads would be my best bet as far as dollar/horsepower ratio?..Its a 2002 stock ls1 out of a corvette(42k miles), going to leave the bottom end stock, and use the stock intake manifold. What kind of realistic rwhp should i expect?...
Thanks in advance

well for the most part, aftermarket cams all cost about the same. so it comes down to heads.

the 5.3s are hard to beat

but a mild stg1 ls1 head is still pretty cheap.

but you should be able to do 430-440 with a decent cam and mild heads.

one thought...isn't the stock intake manifold on the 01 vette still the ls1 intake? which will choke the engine bad!!

He said it's a 2002 ls1 from the corvette. So that should have a ls6 itake. Check out texas speeds H/C combo's, They have some nice "bang for the buck" deals. Also what do you have for exhaust? What transmission do you have A4 or M6?

Default Exhaust

Well the engine is actually going into a very lightweight race car (1550lbs with driver) as its a tube chassis center steer altered (similiar to a funny car without the body) so actually it will have open headers with a powerglide transmission and a 8 inch. 5k stall converter and probably 430 rear end ratio.

Wow 1550lbs with a h/c ls1 is going to be bad ***. With headers, heads and a nice cam you'll be over the 500 crank hp mark. What is this car going to be used for.
