6.0 LQ9, TSP Torquer v2 and 243's ???

Ok let me start with my mods:

05 LQ9 6.0 11,xxx miles
243 Heads
TSP Torquer v2 Cam
Long Tube Headers
True Duals with Bullets
LS6 Intake
Ported Stock TB
Stock 3:23 gears
And a Basic Tune....

I can honestly say I am pretty upset with the turn out of this build. I still have my Basic Tune havent gotten it Wideband or anything and am running TR6's. I still do have a bad tranny but my 1st and 2nd work OK. What do you all recommend me to do to have better performance on the STREET not really taken to the Tracks. Oh and I still am on my Stock Stall.

You're on the stock stall. That's why you're upset.

BINGO!!! You need a new stall pronto.

blown03mustang Feb 9, 2009 08:46 AM

get a tune, get a stall, and get gears!!! it should wake that car up

4K rpm stall and some 3.73's (or maybe 3.90's) would be my choice. Get a gear calculator and figure out where you'll be rpm wise when picking a final drive ratio. Don't wanna be shifting into 4th before crossing the line in the 1/4 mile. 1st and 2nd will be useless without a tire too.

That's the setup I want in my car, almost exactly to the T!

What's been your best time at the track.... And guys I don't really go to the tracks I am more of a street guy. I always race from rolls. Would the stall still be to my benefit?

I said it's the setup I WANT, not have, lol.
And yes, you will benefit greatly from a stall!

frankmarroquin Feb 9, 2009 10:05 AM

Oh sorry I read wrong.... I thought you had this setup but you want this setup.

ice cream man Feb 9, 2009 11:01 AM

big believer in stalls right here! it makes all the difference i went from 13.4 stock with long tubes and yank 3600 stall cut that to 12.8. might want to get your trans build first mine lasted one night with the stall in granted the 145000 miles of hard life in stock form but thats what i think.

dre2013 Feb 9, 2009 11:26 AM

@least 3500 stall, 3.73's, and finish your tune and youll notice a huge difference

frankmarroquin Feb 9, 2009 11:53 AM

Thanks for the imput guys keep it coming.... I guess my big deal or question is would say a 3600 Stall hurt me racing from say a 30mph roll or 60mph?

I'd say it will help, it should flash the rpm's up and help out a lot.

nightmare23 Feb 11, 2009 12:21 AM

it will feel alittle weaker but like he said will flash u quick to the high rpms and when it locks up..hold on to ur seat :D

00MaroonZ28 Feb 11, 2009 03:42 AM

With a 6.0 block, you can run a larger cam than a Torquer V2. Definitely a 3500+ stall and 3.73 gears. They'll both help you out whether it's a street or strip car. Get the tranny rebuilt cause it'll be the first thing to go.

conde'strans Feb 11, 2009 11:12 AM

Well well well! Now I know what you're up to. :gruffy: So you gonna keep the bottle with this setup or not?

Hardtop Feb 11, 2009 11:24 AM

I'm not sure why you aren't happy with your setup. How can you even judge it when you acknowledge the following:

No tune.
Transmission issues.
No stall.

Fix those 3 items and your opinion will probaly change. ;) Good luck with your car.

sidewayz28 Feb 11, 2009 01:06 PM

Your upset because you haven't "optimized" your set up.

Hi-Po Feb 11, 2009 03:48 PM

hmmm,

Stock gears,
Stock stall,
Half tuned?

Think that has anything to you not being happy with this? Probably.

frankmarroquin Feb 11, 2009 05:02 PM

Thanks guys, I definetly am gonna get the tranny worked on but I need to save up a little because the previos shop screwed me over... As for gears they will come soon and stall a bit later or maybe when I am getting the tranny rebuilt HOPEFULLY. And can't forget the Tune. But thanks guys for the input. What stall would be almost perfect for my setup?
