Default how come no love for tsp ls6 heads?

i've been doing my research, trying to pick out a good h/c combo from tsp. originally i was gonna go with stage 2.5 ls6 heads, but i've noticed not many people are running these. how come? most people have the stage 2.5 5.3's. whats the power difference between the two? i realize the 5.3's are cheaper, and i'm on a budget so i'll prolly go with 5.3's, but i'm just curious why there isn't much love for the ls6's?

btw, on top of mods in my sig, i have a bbk intake and ported throttle body waiting to be installed, next question will be which cam?(different thread)

I may be wrong on this so someone correct me if I am but I believe it is because the 5.3 heads have smaller CC's which bumps the compression up a bit which is why they tend to make more power. So I guess they are cheaper and with the smaller chambers make more power so its a win win situation for most people. I believe that is the reason.

The LS6s are better suited for larger cubic inches. The have a larger runner volume also compare to the 5.3s.

I'd like for TSP to step in here and explain what setup each head would shine in. I want to have my 799 heads ported by them but if the 5.3s are going to be cheaper in the long run I'll just sell these things and buy those.

Your Heads and cam have to be matched. So its really hard to tell you which one is better? For which setup?

Just know with the 5.3 heads you will prob have to flycut if you get to big of a cam. LS6 heads usually have better flow through all lifts. So for me I will be going LS6, as you can just get a smaller chamber for the bump in CR.

if you order from TSP tell them which cam (of theirs) you're using and they'll sink the valves so you have no ptv issues

the 5.3 heads have better velocity and a little comp bump ... nice for street and street/strip

the ls6 heads (to me) are for bigger cams, more gear and more strip oriented (aggressive street/strip) and can be milled for comp bump as well

pm TSP, they'll give you the info you want, they're very helpful imo

Well, I have a TR230 and are looking for something to give it a little more kick in the butt n/a. I know it's not a great cam to work with because it's a reverse split but a good flowing exhaust side on a set of heads would still make good power.

I have spent a TON of money with TSP. Including a motor, LS6 heads, cam, rockers, and so forth. The products are great, customer service is second to none, and they stand behind products...

My LS6 heads are for a big cube motor....
