Default TR224/112,918, TI Retainers Installed!

Want to start off saying thanks to all that helped me get my ducks in a row for the install! You guys answered a lot of questions and PM's. I really apprecaite it.

The cam sounds GREAT! Very minimal valve train noise! I was surprised how quiet it was. Needs some time to learn the new custom tune and put some miles on it, but it fired right up and idled good at 800. Did the whole thing by myself today with the wife holding the AC condenser and bringing tools. Dyno numbers coming very soon!

I used the tool that Larry is selling and it ROCKED! Took me 2 hours taking a break to watch some football. Highly recommended!

jrp,
The car is rich at idle, but haven't ran it hard yet to get any AF runs in yet. I'm gonna heat cycle the springs a few times before I run it up.

i forgot your on new springs and the heat cycle bit. should be fun once there broken in and you can give them a good reving . i used the cheap 15 dollar autozone tool and cut off the handle for my springs. broke a water pump bolt and the rocker mount . took me forever to do the springs with that tool, wouldnt line up the retainer center around the valve stem to be able to compress. this 2nd time around i bought the SDPC spring tool from jmx's recommendation and its the best tool i've used, pricey but worth it to me.

im anxious to see what kinda numbers you put down. did you have to drill the TB at all for it to idle right?

Cool man, glad you got that thing in there. You'll be highly impressed at the dyno gains over your stock cam. Now all you need is a kick *** set of heads to slap on that beast!

jrp,

Haven't drilled the TB. I have a custom program from Diablo (Running With the Devil) and with very minimal learn time it is doing great. It recovers without hunting but does have a little surge I'm gonna work on with VE table adjustments. As far as dyno #'s I'm looking for 395. The car has done 364 with just botlons and tuning so maybe even sneak 400 out of it.

Gomer,

Your such a bad influence in a very good way! Heads are coming in the spring or so. The wife just isn't aware of it yet! Thanks for all your help buddy!

Its nice to have a wife that is willing to help. Mine helped with the radiator, and handed me the cam when it was ready to drop in. It helped though...

Congrats, I am actually doing an install right now and the wife is also involved. She even pulled a few rockers and some of the pushrods.

Right now I need to get a longer crank bolt to get the pulley the rest of the way off. Oh, well, I still have the valve springs and the headers to keep me occupied until tommorow!

Ryan,

I'm really happy with the cam. Got a little surge issue I'm working on, but it runs great. Thanks for all your help.

Brian,

I'm glad that is over! Pretty lucky with the wife though as are you. Hell, she guared the vert in the hot *** Atlanta sun all day! BTW, the 112 hits hard.

Darkhalf,

Thanks for all the help bud. Very happy with the cam. I'll be working out the bugs and tuning over the next few weeks and strap it down. Hoping to get 395 or maybe even try and catch Ryan's 399!

Apexman,

You don't have to use a longer bolt. Place a large 3/8 drive on the crank snout and put your puller against it. No thread damage possible. Worked many times for me installing pullies for friends and on mine. Good luck.

Yes, it worked great! I have the new cam in and just need to do the valve springs tommorw. I have been working on it a little bit everynight. I was stuck with the pulley though, thanks.

Any good tips on getting the stock pulley back on?

Derek
