I soaked mine overnight. Just toss them in a small container with enough oil to fully cover them the day before you plan to install them & they will be ready to go when you are ready to install.

Are you going to go with an LS2 timing chain and LS6 ported oil pump?
Seems to be the norm when doing a H/C swap, I have them for my install.
Don't forget the gaskets for these too. What about some ARP head bolts?
And what about the TB? Have you P&P'd your stocker yet?

Ok forgot to mention yea I put on the LS2 chain when I did my cam swap about a year ago along with new intake gaskets for LS6 and I have a new regular not ported LS6 oil pump. Yes I did get arp head bolts too. I am running stock tb with LS6 intake. I sanded it down some to make it smooth though (tb).

Not to steal the thread but whats the big deal with using a LS2 timing chain and LS6 oil pumps/intakes?? Considered an upgrade from the LS1 parts? What's the difference?

The LS2 chain is a little stronger & the LS6 intake outflows the the stock LS1. Same thing with the oil pump, it's just a upgrade.

So when you get LS6 or LS2 parts I assume you just say you got a car with a LS2 or 6 in it when you want a LS2 oil pump or chain etc right?

IMO, forget a Ported Pump or SLP, Just get a Melling 10296 Oil Pump.....much beter...cast with larger ports no porting is required.

No, you dont tell them anything. You just order the LS6 pump & LS2 chain. It's really not very involved at all. There are only 2 LS6 pumps, one ported & one stock. And there is only 1 LS2 chain so it's hard to mess up your order.

From the sponsors listed on the side of the page. Very few people buy parts from the local idiot parts houses unless it's just minor basic stuff like sensors, belts, fluids, hoses, ect.

no need to soak valve lifters

i just put some assembly lube on the contact points (cam/push-rod) and they will lube themselves within the first 5 minutes of starting the engine. Since the lifters won't be filled with lube they will tick until they fill with lube but it won't hurt anything unless something is different about the ls7 that I'm unaware.

I would not do this personally. Why put the lifters thru a dry running condition when it's completely avoidable? Not smart or suggested.

If your too cheap/lazy to soak the new lifters in a little oil then put the wrenches down & step away.

Personally I'd ditch the 1.8 rockers & go back to 1.7, but thats just my opinion. With your cam size you might get close to your numbers you want. I'd say you'd get closer with a tad bit larger cam & Fast 90 though.

Either way it should be a solid 400hp set-up. Just remember dyno numbers aren't important, it's a tuning aid. If you think the numbers aren't impressive take it to the track before you let yourself get disappointed.

i don't remember if i was on the comp or crane site but they recommended not soaking the lifters in oil. this was a couple years ago so their site may have changed. they did recommend cleaning them well.
