Absolute Heads track results (interesting findings - dyno versus track)
You may recall I posted my dyno graph a few days back after tuning and stated the dyno numbers don't mean much to me? Here is the dyno to refresh you:
My HP after tuning was 400 rwhp on ET Streets, TH400, 4000 converter, and steel driveshaft.
I ran consistent 121-122mph trap speeds this weekend at the Shootout, with a best ET of 11.04. Race weight was 3350 with me in the car after that pass. I'd guess DA got no better than +1000 to +1500 all weekend. Using online horespower calculators, based on mph and weight, I came up with 475rwhp based on mph, and 490rwhp based on ET and weight. I prefer the MPH figure because launch affects ET more than it affects MPH.
So then is it safe to say that my stock bore 6.0L block (364cid) with Absolute Speed 5.3 heads (unmilled), and a Comp Cam shelf grind make 475 rwhp?
Can't wait for cooler air for a 10-second motor pass, and then the spray comes

Exactly, Dyno is for tuning and track is for testing i went 12.5 on 302 rwhp with my mods and i was told how low my dyno numbers look. Isn't it funny how these are the guys with 320+ rwhp and they are still in the 13s?

Todd, no friggin wonder you ran so good. Look at that graph! You have enough area under the curve to stick Texas under it. That is why your car is fast. People get so hung up on peak #'s, when in REALITY it's about area under the curve that makes a car fast.
Congrats on the ET's & MPH. 10's aren't far away..

how much rwtq did you make? your just putting the power down efficiently...was the stall locked on the dyno?
those horsepower calculators dont mean squat...if you dont like dynos, how could you try to judge anything by one of those
i dont like those dynos that only read hp and scale by mph instead of rpm...makes it a pain in the AS@#$ to read and get full info from...

[QUOTE=42NightZ28] uh...yah...
you only make 302rw but you did it for 12.5 seconds in the quarter...what did you trap...low 100's?
a stock stalled auto or m6 launching from idle might run slower et, because they arent going to make that power early at a low rpm
reckless good times btw...

i think that is a better description that just saying they don't mean diddly
in the graph he made good power throughout the rpm range...he used the power well...he ran a quick time...
if you have a manual or a high stalled a4...is it not possible to entirely skip the midrange?

Shut up Tony! This is about Absolute Speed heads dammit!
That graph did not have rpm because I let up before hitting the brake button on the dyno. If you do that, the rpm drops and the dyno computer does not graph the rpm correctly. Here is the other dyno with rpm:
The calculator I like to use is at www.prestage.com and I believe the numbers are supposed to reflect RWHP from MPH and weight. I have a TH400 tranny with a tight nitrous converter, and I have no way to lock it. Don't believe it is an option either.

How many 400rwhp cars do you know that are trapping 122mph
I trapped 121 mph on a ~-1000DA day at 3780lbs raceweight. 417rwhp/389 ft-lbs (11.38) - this is a m6 LT1 vehicle.

Agree Levi, I use that sight quite often. Has lots of neat stuff

(g5x2, m2, seen some guys with tr230's do it, etc.)
i just don't agree based on some calculator he has used that his rwhp is 475...that is what a dyno is for...it is the CALCULATOR that we use to determine power output. im not saying that his car doesn't run good because it does...im just saying his car makes 400rwhp and that is that...
if anything his dyno numbers and his track times prove he is putting the power down efficiently unlike well me (see sig). my car was making ~450rw on bottle when i ran that 11.9 @ 123, but it wasn't put down efficiently...i still have a stock stall, cut a 1.9X short time on nittos, spun through 1st from 3k-6.2k, spun a little in 2nd, i wasn't putting the power down like he did...and that et is the result...
all i can do is give props for the times, but in reality he did it with 400rw with a very good setup
