I like to see hot 30 to 40 psi, but that is not always the case. How many miles are on the engine? Do you still have stock pistons in it? Are you running synthetic? If you have the stock Hyperutectic pistons, then you need to make sure to run synthetic oil probly no heavier then the 10w30 or 15w30 due to the tight clearences on those pistons. Also the synthetic will better handle the higher oil temps the LS1 sees do to no oil cooler.

hmmmm....well first start up the pressure jumped to 40 right off. But lately it will drop to 20-30 after idleing a few minutes. I really don't want to tear into it again incase the pump has something wrong with the seal (melling ported ls6) maybe I'll take a video tomorrow and show you and see what you guys think. Motor is stock and 133k.

If it is trying to die, your oil pressure at idle probly will be low as stated before. Try ond hold the idle at 1000rpm hot and report back to us.
As stated before, the oil pump pickup o-ring is the number one cause for low oil pressure and incressed engine noise after a cam swap. The o-ring gets pinched and causes air to get sucked in, causing the oil pump to cavitated and the oil supplied becomes airorated, then the engine bearings take a dump.
Check the pressure at 1000rpm hot and report back.

car idles at 8-900 with about 25ish lbs of pressure. At light throttle or even 1000rpm car is atleast 35-40. I guess everything is normal.
Yes it's lm1.
Car still makes chatter noise after getting hot. Any input ? Nothings loose.

i thought i just read 20psi was fine at the moment, untuned, hot, and 800rpm idle ? we made sure the o-ring wasnt pinched because we knew it was an issue going in. i could be wrong though. just seems like others have seen this and it was no issue.
