Pics of the GF helping me take apart my 5.3.
Here is how it looked the day I bought the motor, stuffed into the back of the gf's durango lol. I was told the motor was making some noise, which is why it was pulled. I'm thinking it was a spun bearing prob as one rod cap was missing. Anyways, onto the pics!
Here are the pics as of yesterday.
Finally getting it onto the stand:
Here I am removing the ex. manifold bolt. I had one break on me inside of the head . I'm going to try and get it out, but they are going to the machine shop anyways .
I asked the gf to go ahead and remove the other ex. manifold, and the water pump. She loved working with the ratchet lol. After she finished she wanted to take a pic of what she had taken off so far.
Now here are the good ones. Were finally inside the motor, and she's never seen anything like all this so it was kinda funny. (The old oil smelled like *** though)
After that we started taking off the whole rocker arm assembly. After that was out of the way we could start getting ready to take the heads off.
Here is a pic of her wondering WTF this thing is lol.
After she removed the timing chain and sprocket I told her to thread the water pump bolts into the cam. She had no idea why. I then told her to pull nice and easy.
Then she asked, "How long is this thing?"
Well without to many issues it was finally out.
That's all the pics I have, bc after that we flipped the motor over and started taking out rods and pistons. She now knows what makes her car go, or at least I told her. Oh well she said she had fun taking out the bolts lol.
I lmao when she tried to take off the balancer bolt . For those who dont know, the balancer bolt is a major PITA. Especially with hand tools, you guys got it lucky with the impacts.
As for parts, I have LS7 lifters, an oil pan, coil packs and brackets, and picking up my stall tomorrow.
Overall good times!
EDIT: Pics of the mustang now.
