will not idle after cam install

just finished my cam install and we cant get it to idle, off idle runs like a champ.
the engine was totally rebuild so trailing it to get it dyno tuned is not an option because i need to break the motor in.

the cam is a tr230/224 w/40bph injectors
we do have hp turner so we can play w/the tune.

any ideas?

Get a decent drivability tune. Make sure you have the car tuned for the injectors.

well we got a tune from hp tunes website, for a heads cam car w/38bph injector, but it still was not right. it would not idle and it was running very rich.

I dyno tuned my new engine with less than 200 miles on it stuffing 10 #'s of boost down its throat. Keep the engine alive and give it some some heat cycles and some WOT bursts and go get it tuned.

I think that is overkill on the injectors. You probably could have stayed with stock injectors and been fine, or maybe some SVO 30#. I think you are running too big and that can mess with drivability.

See if you can shorten the injector pulse at idle. Sounds like your dumping too much fuel into it.

messed w/the tune this morning, idles around 850 and sound great.

I would consider running the car on the dyno breaking it in...

Mine had a lot of trouble starting / idling after the
cam went in, mostly the low end of the VE table
needed cleaned up. It was way overfueled until I
got that part straight. The cold EQ vs ECT and
afterstart enrichment were also way more than it
wanted. Gas, gas, gas.

Reset your idle. We just did the same cam in my car, but with a 7.25" clultch and button flywheel (-30lbs from stock). It would idle, then surge itself into a stall. The tuner went in and upped the idle RPM to about 1000 or so. It got rid of the surging.

Of course, this was just a fix until we got it on the dyno and could fine-tune things. But, it let me drive from Point A to Point B, and move the car around.

we are going to mess w/it a little more to today, but i drove it home last nite about 6miles and it was fine. i just have to put it in netrual then i stop at a red light
