Procomp heads??????????????

I just ran across some Procomp cnc'd 64cc 190ccrunner heads. Looks like they are 700bucks a pair bare. Anyone ever heard of this company?

Interesting, I also would like to know.

They have a reputation for being hit or miss as far as quality goes. Probably a good starting point for someone who can machine the heads themselves to fix or improve any issues.

stangbangin69 09-26-2009 01:30 PM

i've bought some pro comp stuff in the past and it's been good quaility. i've always had goodluck with their stuff.

ramdaspadhye 09-26-2009 01:35 PM

"good luck" being the key....

You'd prolly have to have it decked and the valves lapped to get it to work without headache.

Nitroused383 09-26-2009 02:24 PM

Stock 243 heads are 210cc intake runners and are a proven budget head for around $400 used. These pro comps probably are no improvement over a set of 241 or 853 heads with their 190cc intake port. You can try your luck and let us know if you want though.

Pwebbz28 09-26-2009 11:28 PM

ProComp stuff is 99% of the time Edelbrock knock off stuff. The edelbrock LS heads can be had with a 190cc as cast runner for you do do you own magic on.

JPH 09-27-2009 02:29 PM

Procomp= Overseas JUNK imo. :(

red04ls1gto 09-27-2009 05:12 PM

Not sure I'd buy them, but they arn't overseas....there from the north....LOL I just found them in a superchevy article where they used the Procomp heads on a L98, and supercharged it and made like 580 hp. SuperChevy didn't have anything bad to say......I also ran across MuscleMustang Mag that compared them to a ford e7te head(whatever that is), and the Procomps flowed 100cfm more on the intake, and 65 more on the exhaust. Who knows......and I sure don't doubt the hit or mis quality.

to cheap to be true

Bader-X 10-31-2009 08:35 AM

interresting .... looks good :) thought you were mistaken it for an ls1 and it is a sbc head at the first post and didn`t open it because of the small runner

by time someone might install them or test them and we`ll know :)

flatchat 10-31-2009 12:24 PM

crap and more crap that is all it is.

TVWilkes 10-31-2009 12:29 PM

They are cast in China and marketed out of Australia. Junk, IMO.

Shawn @ VA Speed 10-31-2009 12:39 PM

junk-no sense on spending good money on bad parts.seen many of the pro comp heads crack.

Soul Crusher 11-01-2009 01:42 AM

any thoughts on their rods? <$400 for a set....

G Engines 11-01-2009 07:26 AM

Their rods are scat rods that scat was't happy with not to say their is some defect with them , but they didn't pass inspection for some reason. Their heads are a Patriot reject casting same as a Pbm cheep but you get what you pay for.

LS1FREEK 12-07-2010 11:10 AM

has anyone ever seen any flow numbers on these heads?

ND400 12-08-2010 08:08 AM

Stay away from anything pro comp. The casting is so crap I've seen chunks of head break off and guys wonder why it's cheap.

Nothing beats a factory casting, just go get it cnc'd and take a bit of the surface.

I personally have had dealings with these donkeys. Customers where buying there stroker cranks for the Holden v8 They either where way to out of round to fit or ended up in 3 pieces After a rev. You've been warned stay away.
