Default Finally pulled my motor! (UPDATE PAGE 2 +PICS)

EDIT- Sorry for the big pics!!

Welp i finally got all of my parts and money so i could pull my motor. Was contemplating either pulling it out the bottom or the top. After i pulled the intake, valve covers, and rockers arms off, seen how easy itd be to pull the heads, decided to yank it out the top. Took me a couple days only working on it a couple hours in the afternoon after work. Dont think i did a bad job for my first ever motor tear down or pull. Parts dont look bad for 125k miles

BTW heres guna be my set-up

Stock shortblock
Ported and shimmed ls6 oil pump
Patrick G specd cam- 231/239 .617 .624 @ 111+4
Ported 241 heads
TEA Dual Valve Springs
LS7 Lifters
Hardend Pushrods
LS2 Timing Chain
FAST 36lb Injectors
FAST 92mm Intake
Nick Williams 92mm Throttle Body
SLP Lid
Texas Speed Longtubes
Custom 3" True Duals
Yank SS3600 Stall

Pulled the front pulleys and the radiator and fans

Pulled the intake

Pulled the heads

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNDDDDD its gone

Make sure you check piston/valve clearance with that cam, depending on how much you mill your heads & valve sizing. With that size duration on a 107 ICL it's going to be close, REAL close.

The heads arnt milled at all and it has stock vavles. He specd the cam for stock heads (i got them ported after but he said it should still be ok, but to check PTVC) I do plan on double checking tho

I was told you could and from the looks of it, it was possible, but after looking over if for about 5 mins i saw itd be easy to pull the head bolts out and yanked the heads off.

My original plan was that but plans changed lol

My .02

If your going to spend money on heads don't do the 241s. Take it from some one who shot the whole world down because a good head job would fix the lack of flow of the 241s and now I went to 243s. World of difference.

looks good and good luck

I would install it with the heads back on before you put it back in. It's much easier then doing while in the car. I just put mine back in with the heads installed already and did not remove the AC system with the Balancer installed on the engine.

The 241's have allready been ported and for the price i got them ported for i couldnt pass it up. I had thought about doing 243's but it orignally was going to be a cam only car then got a deal on getting the heads ported. Thanks for the input tho

If your hoist doesn't have a leveler, go rent one from Autozone and put the motor back in with the heads on. No sense is staying bent over a fender installing heads when you can do it sitting down in a chair right next to the motor.

Who ported the heads?

I was sistting on the core support about the whole time lol. The hoist does have a slow lowerer and everything on it the jack just leaks down thats why its on the towels.

Coupe Performance in covington GA ported the heads

Yeah it helps out big time putting the heads on before dropping the motor back in .

I installed mine on the engine stand. If you have the special install tool just do it when the motor is in.
