Default oil pressure on my built 6.0

all right this is a stock lq9 with arp rod bolts and flycut pistons. It has a ls2 oil pump and timing chain. it has ported and milled to 59 cc 862 heads with 2.02 1.6s valves. right around 12:1 on e85. anyways it takes a good 5-8 seconds for the oil pressure gauge to even start movin and goes to like 25 psi or so. should i be worried about it building pressure so slow?

You losin oil out of anywhere? Pinched O-ring? Messed up pickup? Galley plug (doubt that)? Just go over everything. Try a mechanical gauge too, maybe your sensor is just jacked.

5-8 seconds seems like quite a long time to be building oil pressure. especially if your only getting "25 psi or so" cold. Is it dropping once it warms up? I would say u are pushing oil somewhere internally. Did u do anything else to the bottom end while u were there, or just the rod bolts? I've seen 25 psi or so hot, but a 5-8 second lag at start up and 25 psi cold, yes u need to break that thing back down and investigate. what weight oil are u running?

I agree though. The stock gauge in 3rd gens have a tendency to lag.

If it shows low on the mechanical gauge, id have to bet the oring. Everyone is "careful" with it. But it doesnt leave much else if you havent had the rotating assembly appart.

if the o ring is bad or pinched, it would be leaking oil very noticeably. Doubt it's that. check the oil pick up tube.

Did you use the LQ9 pickup tube? If so, what color was the oil pump to pickup tube o-ring? If it was blue that is your problem. The truck and some others need a red o-ring that is thicker.

Ya Oil needs to go through that passage and return to the other side, not be blocked off.
