help...taking apart a ls1 throttle body
 

Im getting some engine parts powder coated...I wanted to get my T/B done while im at it...So i took it apart.

I was able to get off all of the sensors and blade with the hex tool.

BUT im stuck! I cant figure out how to remove the latch/spring that is connected to the T/B...It doesnt seem to be held in place by any screws or by the spring itself? is this part pressed in? is it not meant to be removed...

These image examples look like they were able to take them apart to coat each one and polish the spring.

i just tapped mine out with the handle of a screw driver. just don't hammer it

Those images are off my website actually, those are throttle bodies I coated.

I take a rubber mallet and tap the TPS side of the shaft to knock it through. It gets kinda stuck in there from junk, and also that washer that's on there on the TPS side.

x3, jus give it a couple light taps with a hammer or mallet, comes right out

Thanks for the info guys! how about the spring coil. Do i need to use a screw driver to unhook it from the latch and t/b before using a mallet. or does it just automatically come off with it? sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure i do it right the first time so i dont need to replace it lol

no just be ready to catch the shaft and the spring when you tap it. the spring will fall right off and slingshot itself (or at least it did to me). just hold the bottom while you tap it out you'll have no worries.

The spring depends on the year. 98-99 springs have less coils and are not as tightly wound in there, they are a bit easier to put back together for that reason. 00-22 are stiffer springs.
